Robert and Bridget.
I don't find any debate for their descendancy, but there is quite a bit on the ancestors. That is for another time, though. For now, I want to talk about their descendents. There are a great many of them (naturally), but there is a unique and amazing aspect to them.
This will take several posts, so let's start with Robert, Bridget, and their children.
Robert White and Bridget Allgar were married in Shalford, Essex, England on the 24 June, 1585. Shalford was the birthplace of Bridget, and this is where the couple resided, although Robert died in Messing in 1617. It is unknown when Bridget passed on, but she was alive at the time of Robert's demise, being included in his will.
Also mentioned in his will is a son - Daniel. There is no record of Daniel in Shalford or the surrounding area, so it is assumed that he was Robert's son from a previous marriage. 
So, these are the children of Robert and Bridget - Sarah, Nathaniel, Mary, Elizabeth, Bridget, Anne/Anna/Roseanne, and John. All of these children, with the exception of John, can be found in the baptism records in Shalford (at least what I have been able to find online), although some researchers state that all can be found in Shalford's records. 
Sarah is believed to have married James Bowtell, and remained in England.
Nathaniel's marriage is unknown, but he did remain in England. His will of 1623, in Shalford, mentions his mother, Bridget. 
Bridget was another child of Robert and Bridget who remained in England, marrying John Christmas (or Christman, as some reseachers believe although the name in the records are transcribed as Christmas) and raising a family.
However, the children I would like to focus on are the ones who removed to the Colonies. They are:
Elizabeth, who married William Goodwin
Mary, who married Joseph Loomis (my branch)
John, who married Mary Leavitt
and, Anne, who married John Porter.
According to a news article in 2010, it is through these four children of Robert and Bridget that approximately 29 million Americans can claim their descendancy, the largest family group at that time. It's a pretty impressive group, too.

Hull, Loomis, and White - Martha's Lineage

So, Martha Hull was one of 11 siblings (although I only have eight verified) who was born to Josiah Hull and Elizabeth Loomis. These children were: Josiah, John, Mary, Martha, Joseph, Naomi, George, and Thomas. The additional unverified children are Sarah, Rebecca, and Elizabeth.
Josiah (or Josias) was born in Crewkerne, England to George Hull and Thomasine (or Thomazine) Mitchell. His Uncle was the Rev. Thomas Hull. 
Josiah and Elizabeth married in Windsor, Connecticut where he served as Deputy to the legislature. 
When the family moved to Killingworth, Joseph served as Deputy as well as Lieutenant in the trainband and as Commissioner.
Elizabeth had been born in England to Joseph Loomis and Mary White. In 1638, she arrived with her parents and siblings in Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony on the Susan & Ellen. 
Joseph and Elizabeth had moved to Killingworth in 1663, helping the town to incorporate, thus making them original settlers.
Now, I want to move on to Mary White, Elizabeth's mother. 
First, I need to establish the children of Joseph Loomis and Mary White as I will be testing you at a later time......just kidding! But future posts will involve a few of their children. The couple had eight children: Joseph, Sarah, Elizabeth, John, Thomas, Nathaniel, Mary, and Samuel.
Now, Mary White was the daughter of Robert White and Bridget Allgar. She was born in Essex, England (as was Joseph). Her father was a man of considerable means, so it must be that Joseph, in his trade as a "woolen draper", must have done quite well in his shop near Braintree.
So, in summary, Josiah and Elizabeth are my 9th great-grandparents; Joseph and Mary are my 10th great-grandparents; and, Robert and Bridget are my 11th great-grandparents.
Now, it is through Robert and Bridget that I learned a lot of interesting (and cool) information this past week. So, stay tuned, because the fun has just begun.

Switching Gears to Martha Nettleton

So, now I want to switch branches and move back to the Nettleton lineage through Martha, wife of Jonah Kelsey.
Martha, my 6th great-grandmother, is a bit of a pain (Sorry Grams!) in the available online records. There are a gazillion transcribed marriage records from the old Connecticut vital records for her marriage to Jonah in 1747. However, connecting her to her parents, Joseph Nettleton and Hannah Bushnell......what a pain. 
I really have found only one reference to her parents as being Joseph and Hannah. It is found in Volume 2 of A Genealogy of the Descendents of William Kelsey who settled at Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1632, at Hartford, Connecticut, in 1636, and at Killingworth, Connecticut, in 1663. 
Aside from that, I have found no other reference, to date, for Martha's parents. 
It is the same with Joseph and Hannah's children. I really don't think I have all of their children accounted for, as I only have five in my database. 
Their son, Joseph, married Hannah Kelsey, daughter of John Kelsey and Phebe Crane. Thus, Hannah was the sister of Isaac Kelsey, father of Martha's husband, Jonah. So, let me see if I can make this clear - Jonah's Aunt married his wife's brother, making her not only his Aunt, but his sister-in-law by marriage. Likewise with Martha - her sister-in-law was also her Aunt by marriage. 
Like I said.......a pain.
Another son I have for Joseph Nettleton and Hannah Bushnell is Jeremiah, who married Deborah Kelsey (don't ask).
I do not have any record for wives for their sons, Aron and John (thank goodness!).
Some researchers add another daughter, Hannah, who is reported to have married James Hill.
Joseph Nettleton - the one married to Hannah Bushnell......his parents were John Nettleton and Martha Hull. I have six children for them - Joseph, John, Samuel, Martha, George, and Josiah.
The only thing I'm going to say about their children is that some databases I've seen try to attach John's wife, Sarah Woodmansee, as another wife of his brother, Joseph, giving Joseph about 15 children with this "extra" marriage. All I have to say is No....Joseph never married his brother's wife.
